Que-Clause Structure with the Subjunctive

The canonical frame is [main clause with trigger] + que + [new subject] + [subjunctive verb]: je veux que tu partes. The subjunctive appears only when the subordinate clause has its own subject, distinct from the main clause's; que is obligatory and cannot be dropped as English drops 'that'.
