Rank Partitioning Algorithm for Multi-Objective Design Optimization of Soft Growing Robots

A method for automatically choosing the physical dimensions of a soft growing robot manipulator so it can reach targets in three-dimensional space. Students learn how the design task is cast as a multi-objective optimization over a kinematic chain solved with evolutionary computation, and how the Rank Partitioning algorithm ranks candidate designs across competing objectives to improve target-reaching precision and resource efficiency.
