Sample Space and Events of a Random Experiment in Probability

A random experiment has a sample space: the set of every elementary outcome it can produce, such as the six faces of a die or the two sides of a coin. An event is any subset of that sample space, and a probability is the number assigned to an event, with the probabilities of all elementary outcomes summing to one. After learning this a student can list the sample space of a described experiment, express a stated condition as an event, and give that event's probability for an equally likely setup.
