Single-Cell RNA Sequencing

Individual cells are isolated and their transcripts tagged with a cell-specific barcode before pooling, yielding a cells-by-genes count matrix. Coverage per cell is shallow and sparse, so most genes read zero in most cells by design, not by biology alone.
