Single Vectorlike-Quark Production via Wb Decay at a Future Muon-Proton Collider
The novel contribution is the first detailed detector-simulation assessment of the discovery reach for singly produced vectorlike quarks (VLQ T with charge +2/3e and VLQ Y with charge -4/3e) decaying through T/Y -> Wb at a future muon-proton (µp) collider, within a simplified two-parameter framework (VLQ mass and electroweak coupling g*/kappa_Y). Single production proceeds by Wb fusion; LO cross sections are computed with MadGraph5 and NNPDF23LO PDFs at three center-of-mass energies (5.29, 6.48, 9.16 TeV) and both semileptonic and hadronic W channels are analyzed. The key finding is that the hadronic channel with a boosted W fat-jet gives superior sensitivity, enabling 5-sigma discovery up to mT = 3750 GeV / mY = 4100 GeV (9.16 TeV, 100 fb^-1) and exclusions to mT = 4500 GeV / mY = 4800 GeV - reach well beyond the LHC and about an order of magnitude above FCC-eh - establishing µp colliders as uniquely powerful probes of high-mass VLQ states in the boosted-jet regime.
Searching for single production of vectorlike quarks decaying into Wb at a future muon-proton
A collider-phenomenology study of the discovery potential for singly produced vectorlike quarks (VLQs) at a future muon-proton (µp) collider. It considers the T state (charge +2/3e) and Y state (char…
