SPI Protocol

SPI shifts data full-duplex on separate COPI and CIPO lines synchronized to a controller-driven clock, with each peripheral selected by its own chip-select line rather than an in-band address. Clock polarity and phase (the four SPI modes) must match the peripheral, and the pin-per-device cost buys much higher throughput than I2C.
