Spin Wave Packet Generation by Reconfigurable Magnonic Heterojunctions

A numerical study showing that the magnonic band-gap of a nano-magnonic crystal โ€” a magnetic waveguide whose parameters are modulated at the nanoscale to create a super-lattice band structure โ€” can be tuned by applying a magnetic field to only part of the crystal, forming a magnonic heterojunction. Actively modifying the band structure this way produces magnonic amplitude modulation in the linear regime and magnonic frequency combs in the nonlinear regime, generating controllable spin wave packets and opening routes toward reconfigurable magnon-based signal processing.
