Stability and Bifurcation Analysis of a Modified SEIR Epidemic Model

A guided treatment of how to build and analyze a modified SEIR compartmental model of infectious-disease spread. Students learn to formulate the model's differential equations, verify positivity and boundedness, compute the basic reproduction number as an outbreak threshold, assess local stability of the disease-free and endemic equilibria, prove global stability with Lyapunov functions, and interpret forward versus backward bifurcations.
