Stroke Recognition (FAST)

FAST is the standard screen for stroke: Face drooping on one side, Arm weakness or drift when both are raised, Speech that is slurred or strange, and Time — call emergency services the moment any one sign appears. Strokes are brain emergencies where treatment is intensely time-sensitive, so noting the time symptoms started is genuinely useful information for responders. Other signs include sudden severe headache, sudden confusion, vision loss, or loss of balance. Never wait to see if symptoms pass, and never drive the person yourself when an ambulance is available — emergency services can begin care en route.
