Strong-Decay Assignments of Excited Lambda_c Baryons in the Quark Pair Creation Model

A systematic quark-pair-creation (3P0) model calculation of the OZI-allowed two-body strong decays of 1P-, 1D-, 2S- and 2P-wave Lambda_c charmed baryons in a j-j coupling scheme. By matching computed total and partial decay widths (and width ratios such as Sigma_c pi / Sigma_c* pi) to experiment, it assigns spin-parity and lambda- vs rho-mode internal-excitation quantum numbers to the observed states Lambda_c(2595), (2625), (2765), (2860), (2910) and (2940), and predicts decays of still-unobserved excitations.
