Sub-MHz Radio Constraint on Ultralight Dark-Photon Dark Matter via Dark Inverse Compton Scattering

A new probe of ultralight dark-photon dark matter based on dark inverse Compton scattering, in which the dark-photon condensate up-scatters Galactic cosmic-ray electrons and positrons to produce a diffuse radio background peaking below 1 MHz. Using modern cosmic-ray propagation models and radio absorption maps and comparing the predicted signal to Milky Way radio-spectrum measurements from Explorer 43, Radio Astronomy Explorer 2, and the Parker Solar Probe, the work sets leading upper limits on the kinetic-mixing parameter for dark-photon masses below roughly 2e-17 eV.
