Sum-Rate Optimization for RIS-Aided Dual-Polarized Integrated Sensing and Communication

A joint beamforming and reflection design for RIS-aided integrated sensing and communication that exploits the polarization domain: dual-polarized base-station arrays and a dual-polarized RIS double the effective antenna count without enlarging the array. The sum rate is maximized by a WMMSE reformulation with alternating optimization, majorization-minimization for the constant-modulus RIS coefficients, and a penalty-based closed-form beamformer, giving a low-complexity solution that outperforms polarization-agnostic ISAC designs.
