Task-Based CSI Compression with Channel Charting in Wireless Communications
A scheme that reduces the channel-state-information reporting overhead of FDD massive-MIMO systems by compressing CSI with channel charting. Framed as task-based compression, a channel-charting encoder maps CSI to a low-dimensional chart location and a neural decoder reconstructs the precoding (beamforming) matrix rather than the raw channel, trained end-to-end with a task-oriented loss; encoder subsampling cuts parameters ninetyfold and reaches compression ratios near 1024 versus about 64 for classical autoencoders.
