TFA Cleavage Cocktails and Scavengers
Concentrated TFA simultaneously cleaves the linker and the tBu/Trt/Pbf side-chain groups, releasing trityl and tert-butyl cations that alkylate Trp, Met, Tyr and Cys unless scavenged by TIS, water, EDT, thioanisole or phenol. Cocktail choice follows the residue set, and cleaved peptide is precipitated into cold diethyl ether.
