The builder pattern is a creational design pattern that separates the construction of a complex object from its representation, so the object is configured piece by piece through incremental steps and then finalized with a build operation that produces the (often immutable) product. It avoids oversized constructors and deeply nested configuration structures, keeps construction logic out of the data model, and is typically expressed as a fluent interface with chained method calls. It belongs to object-oriented software design.
