The Dot-Probe Task Measures Attentional Bias Toward Threat
In the dot-probe task two stimuli, often one emotional and one neutral, appear briefly side by side and a probe then replaces one of them. Faster responses to probes at the emotional location indicate that attention had been drawn there, defining an attentional bias score. The bias score has low internal reliability in many samples, so group effects are more interpretable than individual scores.
