Triangles of the Neck and Their Subdivisions in Head and Neck Anatomy

The neck is anatomically subdivided into two major triangles, the anterior cervical triangle and the posterior triangle, separated by the sternocleidomastoid muscle and bounded posteriorly by the trapezius. Each major triangle is further subdivided into smaller triangular regions defined by muscular boundaries, a hierarchical anatomical classification system used in head and neck anatomy to organize spatial relationships among structures.
