The unstructured noisy channel (UsNC) model generalizes the unfair noisy channel model by letting a dishonest party introduce arbitrary memory effects into an otherwise memoryless binary symmetric channel, bounded only by global smooth-min-entropy constraints. Students learn how a string commitment protocol is built and proven complete, hiding, and binding against such a memory-capable adversary, how the achievable commitment rate is derived, and how the model's entropic constraints follow from the noisy-quantum-storage assumption, connecting abstract noisy-channel and physical-limitation cryptography.
