This concept covers verruca (cutaneous warts) as manifestations of human papillomavirus (HPV) infection within dermatopathology. It establishes the correspondence between clinical wart subtypes (verruca vulgaris, verruca plana, verruca plantaris, condyloma acuminata) and specific low-risk HPV genotypes, distinguishes these from high-risk genotypes associated with malignancy, and defines the characteristic histopathologic features of viral wart formation (acanthosis, papillomatosis, hyperkeratosis, hypergranulosis, and dilated tortuous dermal vessels). It further situates verruca within a differential diagnostic framework distinguishing it from other papulosquamous and infectious mimics based on morphologic and etiologic criteria.
