Viability Dye Dead-Cell Exclusion
Dead cells have permeable membranes and bind antibodies nonspecifically, so they must be removed with a dye that only enters or reacts inside compromised cells. Fixable amine-reactive dyes are used when the sample will be fixed or permeabilized, since intercalating dyes such as propidium iodide leak out after fixation.
