VXLAN Encapsulation
VXLAN wraps a full layer-2 Ethernet frame inside a UDP datagram (port 4789) with a 24-bit VXLAN Network Identifier, letting one virtual layer-2 segment span many hosts over routed IP. The extra headers cost 50 bytes, which is why VXLAN-backed networks must run a smaller inner MTU.
