Weak Acid Titration Curve and Equivalence Point in Chemistry

In titrating a weak acid with a strong base, the weak acid's dissociation equilibrium acts as a buffer: as hydroxide ions consume hydrogen ions, the equilibrium shifts to replenish some hydrogen while steadily converting the weak acid into its conjugate base. The equivalence point occurs when moles of added strong base equal the initial moles of weak acid, but unlike a strong acid-strong base titration, the resulting solution has a pH above 7 because the accumulated conjugate base is itself weakly basic.
