Yellow Old Leaves Signal Nitrogen Shortage; Yellow New Leaves Signal pH Lockout
Nitrogen (and magnesium) are mobile, so a short plant strips old leaves first: lower leaves yellow. Iron and manganese are immobile, so at high pH the newest leaves yellow between green veins, as on a blueberry in pH 7 soil.
