A voice is a physical instrument, a measurement problem, and a genetic trait all at once. Start at the vocal folds and the tube above them, learn how the acoustics of that instrument are measured, then follow the same voice into a genome-wide study of 12,901 people to see how much of it is inherited, which gene turned up, and what a group average does and does not tell you about a person.
